USES: it can reduce the viscosity of sputum by breaking the disulfide bond in glycoprotein and other components in bronchial secretions. When used with amoxicillin, it can increase the antibiotics' concentration in sputum by enhancing the penetration of the antibiotics through the bronchial mucosa. The product can clear the free radicals produced by imflammatory cells. It can also be used in the treatment of oxidative lung injury caused by smoking. The metabolite of erdosteine can markedly reduce the adhesion of some bacteria on epithelial cells on mucous membrane, which leads to reduced rate of infection.
